Read all about it: the year in 401 beer

In our column in the brandy-new End-of-Year issue of Motif, we look back on a very active 365 [or so] days on the local beer scene, and drop a few enticements re: brandy-new releases from Beer On Earth, Revival, Foolproof, and Shaidzon to enhance your holiday sipping pleasure.

  1. Thanks, Lou! And I just added info on one new brewery (brewpub, really) plus a renamed brewery – The Purple Cat Tavern is no longer a winery. I’m planning on driving to Westerly today, to check out 84 Aleworks. They’ve been open as a restaurant for quite a few years – the brewpub license came Dec 1, 2018 according to the DBR site.

Merry Christmas and all that jazz!

  2. Just read this again – want to make sure we’re on the same page, new brewery-wise!

I didn’t know about 84 Aleworks until last week, when Jen from Grey Sail presented their dues fee to join the RIBG ! That was a nice year end surprise, except we’re scrambling to add them to the website and Passport (hence the Page 3 Passport on line – it’s how we are going to accommodate new places that didn’t join in time to make the printed version)

The other two new ones in the works (I think) would be AntlerAleWorks in Providence (at best, year end 2019 at last report) and a yet to be named East Greenwich addition. They’ve reached out to Linesider (the other East Greenwich brewery) and I heard from one of our brewers that he had met them somewhere – still working on getting names and dates from them…

News for 2019 will include all new Board of Directors for the RIBG – I have to check with the current Board, to see when we can release names – elections are scheduled on Jan 18th, unless we have to change the date for any reason. I’ll keep you in the loop on that!

Let me know if you were talking about other new breweries, by the way!
